Under general supervision, performs general duty firefighting work in combating fires, extinguishing, and preventing fires and in maintaining fire stations and related equipment.
Performs EMS first responder and other duties as required.
The preferred applicant will be North Carolina EMT certified, state certified Firefighter I and II, state technical rescue certification, and Hazardous Materials Operations Level certified.
Must reside not more than 30 miles commuting distance of the Central Fire Department.
Minimum age of 18. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina.
Successful completion of the physical agility test is required. Selected applicants will be notified by the Fire Department after the closing of the application process when the physical agility test is scheduled.
An employee in this position must possess the ability to work 24 hours on and 48 hours off, which includes working on holidays and weekends.
