This role is focused on ensuring the correct and smooth movement of the material from suppliers to production floor while supporting manufacturing process to complete customers’ orders more efficiently. Primary goal is to collaborate with customer service, PLM, engineering, and quality to maximize production, minimize supply chain costs, ensure better inventory controls, balance contending priorities while still improving the level of customer service. Work together to ensure timely performance goals are met and handle orders and schedules in a manner that achieves MELT (Market Expected Lead Time), OTP (On-Time Performance), and various other goals set by management. Building and disseminating production schedules for multiple lines to improve productivity and efficiency while decreasing down time, changeovers, and scrap. You will be leading the value stream in the absence of the operations manager, supervise and report the status of production, on time-performance, lead times, and other metrics. Use corporate ERP system (SAP) to create material inventory/purchasing plans, capacity plans, based on customer forecasts, current sales, seasonal trends and information received from sales in order to reduce customer response times. Identify changes in capacity or material availability to sales. Elevate relevant issues to management especially ones that negatively impacts the MPS, and hence availability to customer. Apply the best material availability dates to Sales Orders and Quotations by analyzing the Bill of Material and Plant Capacity. Use inventory management tools and capacity models to improve turns and reduce non-moving inventory. Use analytical skills to supervise and call out planning issues. Work closely with counterparts at other locations to lower the response time to customers who require high value/low usage components within a short lead time. Collaborate with other functional areas in improving the planning processes, including Manufacturing, Customer Care, Engineering, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality, and Product Line Management. Investigate any discrepancies, utilizing ERP systems and all available resources around late orders. Track all late orders, identify the root causes, implement permanent corrective actions. Investigate possible alternative uses of excess and slow-moving stock to reduce and eliminate this specific area of inventory and optimize usage of material. Perform local planning responsibilities including developing daily/weekly production schedules, processing MRP regularly, orders/quotations, replenishing materials, optimizing inventories, and presenting to various functional areas to ensure global commitments are met based on capacity plan.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- A completed bachelor's degree with five years of relevant experience or a completed associates degree with seven years of proven expertise
- Proficiency in MS Office, strong PC skills, knowledge of ERP system, ideally SAP and an excellent appreciation of MPS/MRP along with some reporting tool experience
- Strong social skills, ability to present in large groups. Understanding and interacting with sales-team, suppliers, and production teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours is important for this role
