This position performs duties required to operate a table slitter to cut thin slabs of foam used in mattress assembly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtain the proper sized blocks to be cut and place them on the slitter table.
- Measure the block thickness and gauge the machine down to size needed.
- Cut the slab from the blocks.
- Repeat the process to cut additional slabs as needed.
- Tie the cut blocks into bundles as needed, place onto carts.
- Repeat the process to complete the orders.
- Push full carts to the next process.
- Throw scrap pieces into scrap buggies.
- Practice good housekeeping skills. (keep area neat and clean)
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of educatioin and experience.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and difference between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
