Internal Resource Team/Full-Time/Posted (11/21/2019)
Provides professional nursing care and makes nursing care decisions that are appropriate for the age and condition of the patient, using the nursing process. Collaborates with other health care professionals to meet the needs of the patient. Responsible for adhering to CVMC/departmental policies, procedures and philosophy to deliver quality patient care, practicing within the guidelines of the North Carolina State Nurse Practice Act.
Education and Credentials Required:
•Graduate of accredited nursing program.
•Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
•BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.
•ACLS within one year of employment. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification within three months of employment. (IRT for Women & Children exempt form ACLS & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Requirements
•Newly employed IRT Registered Nurses and current employees promoted to IRT Registered Nurse positions are required to possess a BSN or higher nursing degree.
•The BSN or higher nursing degree must be completed within five years from the date of employment or placement into the IRT RN position.
•Effective August 28, 2017 incumbents in CVMC IRT RN positions on the effective date will be required to satisfy the BSN degree requirement to maintain their current position.
The IRT Registered Nurse will float to the following units and take an independent assignment in the following department and maintain yearly competency as assigned and be able to take a CCU assignment. Requirements include all annual education required by each unit to maintain competencies.
•Critical Care Unit
•Clinical Observation Unit
•Intermediate Care Unit
•Birthing Center - Postpartum unless previous L&D experience. NRP within one year of employment date.
•NICU - Level II unless previous experience in Level III-NRP & STABLE within one year of employment date. STABLE renewal not required.
•Pediatrics – PALS within one year of employment date.
•Newborn Nursery- NRP & STABLE within one year of employment date. STABLE renewal not required.
The IRT Registered Nurse will float to the following units and be assigned duties based on level of competency.
Specialty course work and certification in multiple areas of practice.
One year nursing experience.
One year experience working in Critical Care. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job and able to assume call responsibilities as required within three months of employment date.
One year experience in either Birthing Center or NICU.
