Job Description

Our fast-paced manufacturing firm is seeking a Department Coordinator (2nd Shift) Hiddenite. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as a team within a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role has 6 months experience in the manufacturing sector, pays strong attention to detail, has excellent attendance and is committed to workplace safety. We offer excellent medical, vision, and dental insurance as well as retirement benefits, PTO and paid holidays. This position is at our Hiddenite Plant in Hiddenite, NC. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM. Listed below are the Qualifications and Requirements for the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Priortize production orders for each department
  • Attend production meeting and be prepared to outline status of work orders.
  • Make a back order listing teice daily and attend the back order meeting as needed.
  • Expedite rush orders through the plant..
  • Check quality of materials coming into each department
  • Inform the supervisor of the status of various orders as needed.
  • Show operators how styles are to be fabricated as needed.
  • Assist in the training of new employees for the various jobs in each department as needed.
  • Maintain inventory levels at all times
  • Assist in inventory and cycle counts
  • Take roll call at beginning of each shift reporting to Supervisor or Plant Manager any employee who did not report as expected for the shift
  • Ensure employees are wearing required PPE, i.e. Safety Glasses, Masks, Gloves, Ear Plugs, etc…
  • Perform beginning of shift Gimba Walk each day sharing previous day performance, KPI results, jobs to complete that day, safety training, ergonomic stretching, special project updates, etc…
  • Review the Daily Production Priority Schedule to determine jobs to be completed for the day and order of completion.
  • Review the Daily Production Priority Schedule for new jobs and materials required to be ordered so there is no disruption in the supply chain in order to meet customer due dates
  • Ensure employees are staying on track with daily initiatives and producing product in a timely manner that meets customer due dates
  • Takes initiative to communicate up stream in the manufacturing process to ensure they receive the product needed to complete daily shipments…Lead Person does not wait for product to be delivered to their respective area, they ask for it keeping others on task and ensuring accountability
  • Ensures everyone in the department is Quality Minded when producing product not allowing inferior product to be released to the next order of operations in the plant
  • If replacements or shortages are requested the Lead Person takes the initiative to ensure these are produced within 1 hour of communication that product is needed following up with other Lead Person up stream of their process
  • Lead by example….never ask anyone to do something you have not or would not do yourself!!
  • Always communicate….bring solutions when possible not just problems to leadership’s attention

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have excellent attendance and work record.
  • Must have good communitation skills/verbal/written
  • Must have good recordkeeping skills
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
  • Must be able to read and write on production sheets.
  • Must be able to perform simple math (i.e. – counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to coordinate in a team environment
  • Must be able to operate a forklift
  • You must be able to work Saturdays/overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as deemed by management
