(Archived) Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) / Database Engineer (DBE)

Job Description

The Database Administrator / Engineer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and enhancing all aspects of our Oracle Database environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive Oracle design, deployment, configuration, administration and monitoring experience. In addition, the Database Administrator / Engineer will take part in responding to database related alerts, triaging incidents, and helping to resolve any database issues.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Planning, deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance and monitoring of Oracle in a cloud-based environments and physical data-center.
  • Tracking and maintenance of all Oracle Licensing
  • Review, maintenance, implementation and enforcement of security processes across all Database systems

Requirements (Education, Skills & Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, another technical scientific discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of Oracle database design and administration experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Provide the expertise to streamline and optimize critical databases in a 24x7x365 environment located in Azure, AWS, and physical datacenter.
  • Work directly with development and infrastructure teams to enhance the performance and observability of various database services.
  • Develop and update database documentation, including data standards and procedures.
  • Proactively work to ensure that data and access standards are being followed.
  • Proactively escalate and own issues to resolution.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues across the entire stack; hardware, software, application and network within cloud-based environments and physical data-center.
  • Develop, manage, test and document backup and recovery plans.
  • Maintain monitoring and alerting for databases and participate as a member of an on-call schedule.
  • Proven track record of designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining databases on a large scale.
  • Deep understanding of relational database design.
  • Extensive experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues in a production environment.
  • Ability to work in a configuration management framework.
