How you"ll help us connect the world

As a member of the Commscope's Mechanical Engineering team, you will be responsible for the development of enterprise- and service provider-grade wireless products and accessories, from concept, design, prototype, tooling and testing phases through to completion. The successful candidate will be able to drive multiple projects forward with minimal guidance.


Take ownership of mechanical systems from start to finish.

Design and document mechanical systems utilizing 3D CAD tools (Solidworks).

Gather requirements from engineering, marketing and the executive team.

Gather requirements, design and conduct tests to verify system performance under varied environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, vibration and drop).

Work closely with tooling vendors. Order and build prototypes for design verification and testing.

Generate detailed drawings of assemblies, mechanical parts and systems.

Ensure that product safety and other regulatory requirements are met.

Produce artwork for labels.

Review and approved DVT test plan and results.

Document bills of materials (BOMs) for assemblies designed by the team

Partner with other engineering teams within the company.

Analyze and validate thermal and environmental specifications and requirements.

Qualify first article of parts and assemblies

Ensure that mechanical schedules are met.

Required Qualifications:

Detailed understanding of the design and manufacturing processes for

high volume plastic, metal and sheet-metal parts.

Knowledgeable in engineering plastics and metals.

Ability to execute design projects from concept through production.

Generate detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.

Ability to prioritize multiple parallel projects

Experience with finite element analysis for mechanical stress, thermal and vibration

Experience with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.

Ability to generate and keep BOMs up to date from prototype through production

Extensive experience with 3-D CAD design.

Educational Qualifications:

BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering

10+years of experience in developing high volume injection molded plastic, high pressure die casting, and sheet metal products.
