Perform research, analysis, design and development under the discipline of mechanical engineering. Apply research to planning, design and development of mechanical components, products, and systems specifically long-distance contract manufacturing source(s) for wireless infrastructure products. Conduct feasibility studies and test new or modified designs. Analyze, test and evaluate technical and cost performance of competitive products. Qualify the source based on technical and business capabilities. Complete analysis of supplier cost structures and pricing capabilities. Design and develop future lower cost wireless infrastructure products and solutions. Apply standard techniques, processes and procedures typically utilized in product development. Design and develop product concepts, and evaluate final models for functionality and conformance to product specifications. Possess technical expertise in plastic injection molding, high-speed progressive stamping and eyeletting. Improve existing designs to enhance product technical performance and quality. Write mechanical requirements and design specifications. Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales/marketing relating to products. Assist in purchasing and quality negotiations as required. Understand mechanical and environmental performance characteristics of infrastructure products from a theoretical and practical point of view. Participate on a project team of departmental and/or cross-functional members Involved in the development of mechanical, optical, and electronic products. Estimate development effort and meet schedule commitments. Initiate and review test plans and results as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 years of work experience
